Meet Julep, the boutique infamously known for its kelly green doors and two owners, Corinn and Barbara.
We want you to get an inside look of Julep so I conducted an interview with the mother daughter duo. But first, we want to give you some background knowledge on the brand and how it all started.
Being right in the heart of Charleston's fashion district, King Street, I am sure you can imagine the array of boutiques readily available to shop. Corinn and Barbara have made it their mission to bring clients not only the best curated merchandise but the ultimate in-store and online experience. This brings us to Julep's mission statement:
We strive to continually bring in fresh and unique international brands that are not saturated in the market. We want our customers to stand out, not blend in with everyone purchasing the mass-produced lines.

How was julep born?
Corinn: "Both my mom and I were born and raised in St. Louis, MO. I moved down to Charleston in 2008 to attend College of Charleston and by 2009 my family (parents and two younger sisters) had followed suit. Its hard not to fall in love with this city! My junior year of college while I was abroad in Buenos Aires, my mom started working a few days a week at a local boutique on King Street called Warren on King. When I returned from Argentina I began working there on weekends as well. After graduating CofC I was promoted to manager and buyer. In 2016 the owner of Warren on King decided she was going to close the shop and move back to the West Coast. My mom and I had always dreamed of owning our own boutique, so it fell perfectly into place and we ended up buying out Warren on King and creating our own vision- julep"
What is the design aesthetic for your store?
Corinn: "Clean- we want the clothes to speak for themselves so we went with a very fresh palette: white with navy accents and pops of kelly green."
Barbara: "Uncluttered, open with an air of resort"
If we went to happy hour what would you order?
Corinn: "Tequila cocktail or a nice glass of wine. I swear by tequila!"
What is your 2019 business/personal goal you hope to achieve?
Corinn: "Reach 10,000 followers on instagram, grow our website, have a consistent weekly blog post and cocktail of the month post/gathering. " (More info to come on the cocktail of the month)
Barbara: "Learn to play golf"

What is your personal motto?
Corinn: "People will stare. Make it worth their while"
Barbara: "Courage and kindness"
Where is your dream place to travel and why?
Corinn: "Dream places to travel are Italy & Spain- I absolutely love their sense of fashion, they are ahead of the trends. Some of our favorite lines we carry currently are Italian and Spanish. One of my favorite places I have already been is Palm Springs, CA. I love the architecture, style, and the colors, reminds me of a Slim Aarons photograph"
What is the most challenging and rewarding part to owning your business?
Corinn: "There is no rhyme or reason to retail, just when you feel like you have it down to a science everything changes and you have to adapt. It is extremely rewarding when you cultivate relationships with customers who trust your eye implicitly and are just as excited as you are when new merchandise arrives. "
What is something you always carry with you?
Corinn: "A comb and lipstick"
Barbara: "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun" K. Hepburn
What can you not live without in your closet?
Barbara & Corinn: "White jeans"
